Justification of Émile's video

I chose to analyse Émile’s video, because he did a great job. His video is compelling and smart. The song he chose is so appropriate to the context of making a video of yourself.

Are You Ready by AC/DC warm you up during the beginning of the video and keep you in fire till the end. Just by the song’s title, we realise that we need to get ready to meet Émile. The editing part has been done really well, so the song’s chorus exploded when we see a picture of Émile laughing out loud.

Émile took the first person to describe who he is. We understand that he is a snowboarder, a soccer player and especially a musician. He put a picture of him playing with his electric guitar. In fact, we clearly see that he is not only listening to music, more than that, he plays music. He wants to feel what it’s like to be a rock star.

To conclude, Émile’s video is really simple, but we absolutely know him better after watching it and most important, we want to learn more about him.

Why did I do it?

With today’s technologies, it is so easy to share information. Blogs, Facebook and Twitter are now more affordable than ever. We use them to show what we’ve done, what we like and especially what we are. I made a “myself video” and posted it on my blog, so you can learn more about me. But first, I’ll explain why I did it like that.

My video is really simple, just like I am. I wanted to prove that by showing you my room, where I spent a lot of my time. To me, my room means freedom and clarity because I can do anything I want and that include listen to the music I want. As you see, I have a music collection on CD’s, as well as on vinyl. I definitely need my daily basis of music. Music sets my day when I wake up. One song can also change me from being in a bad mood to a good mood. Fortunately, during the editing part of my video, I was pretty fired up, so I chose to put a song that makes you move.

On the other hand, I filmed myself doing sports because it’s a big part of my life. Playing soccer, basketball and hockey are things I can’t live without. Thanks God, I’m good at it! I also put a part of my first snowboard video I made last winter with two good friends of mine.

To cap it all, my video represents really who I am in life and I think it reaches its goal pretty good. The goal being to present myself as who I am. My dad always told me :“It’s not what you do in life that matters, it’s about who you are.”

Expensive, but worth it

Can being in love make you act differently?

This is the first question I asked myself after watching this great movie. In fact, I think the movie Phenomenon answers this question perfectly. This movie treated love as a major theme to reach its purpose. So, I confirmed the fact that loving someone can make you do unusual things and here’s a part of the plot to describe it.

Basically, the love story going on in the movie is about a mechanic guy named George Malley who is in love with a single-mother, Lace. First, she really doesn’t care about him, but as the movie progress and as George insists to invite her, she begins to look at him in a different way. (And so does everyone in the town, but for several different reasons.) In my opinion, I think they built a relationship based on a kind of desire, especially on Lace’s side because she knew George loved her.

As I said previously, Lace is a single-mother who has been left by her husband. Unfortunately for George, she doesn’t want to go through this kind of painful experience again. So, it is really difficult for George to know her because she is afraid of another relationship. George is a smart guy , so he decided to buy a lot of branch chairs Lace makes and sells next to the garage he works at. Therefore, she will have to bring more chairs and George will get more opportunities to see her. His plan worked just as he planed until she came at his house and found out what he's been up to. This simple, but expensive action really shows what a man can do just to see and maybe talk to the woman he loves. It surely proves how powerful love really is.

To cap it all, I think being in love can absolutely make you do things you wouldn’t normally do. Love influence your actions and changed you head to toes, with a huge stop at your heart.

Movie - ADVENTURELAND

Run to the video club and rent Adventureland, an awesome movie to show what can really happened during a summer job in the 80's. I loved that movie so I decided to buy it.

By the way, the soundtrack is made with couple of really great songs like Don't Dream It's Over by Crowded House and Bastards Of Young by The Replacements

SMART action

If you would like to do anything you ever wanted to do and money is no object. If you knew that you won't failed. What would you do?

My 2010 summer is my last summer before beginning CECEP and I would like to go work in Yukon, in Whitehorse, during a complete summer and improve my English, especially my English speaking. Toronto was also an option, but I’ve already been there three times. I really want to learn more about English culture, expressions and just speak English. I’ve been watching English TV constantly for a year now and that is not because of a school assignment, it’s because I really enjoy it. I think it did really help me with my general understanding of the language. I’m thinking of a two months experience, which is perfect for a summer job that I could easily find there a month or two before going. This vacancy project is totally realistic because I have a family who’s waiting for me to call and my parents are taking care of any charge that comes with the trip.

Special thanks to Much Music for presenting great TV shows and Discovery Channel for making me like science in a different way.

Artist of the week - Vast

Vast (Visual Audio Sensory Theater) is an american alternative rock band formed in 1998 in Austin, Texas. Jon Crosby, who has nothing to do with the hockey player Sidney Crosby, is the lead signer and guitarist. Vast's sound is simply made with Crosby's acoustic guitar, some electronic intruments and heavy bass. However, the two previous album are to me, more identifiable as an acoustic rock sound like Dashboard Confessionnal or City and Colour. His third album called Nude is definitely one of my favorite album because of the use of unsual sound like a car ride or Muslim church.

Artist of the week - Rob Pattinson

Robert Pattinson is especially known as Edward Cullen in the tretralogy Twilight, but he is also a great guitar player with an original voice. He is performing twice on the first Twilight movie. "Let Me Sign" and "Never Think" are his success so far. I think he's not really considered as a musician, but he just wants to express how he feels, or maybe what Edward feels. But still...
